Hey readers! Hope you are as excited about the weekend as I’m. I’ll be at a friend’s cottage riding the MarĂkovskĂ˝ Singeltrack, so watch out for some sick drops on the MTB Weekly Instagram. And when you are done riding, read up on this weeks issue featuring Janne Tjärnström, a pioneer MTB publisher and just a really inspirational guy. If you are in need of a life goal - how about biking the Himalayas? Sounds crazy? That’s because it is… But Sam and Joey are crazy enough to attempt this. Read about their epic journey. Seth from Seth’s bike hacks brings another level of DIY projects - building a skinny roll-in drop right in your backyard!

Hidden Talent: Behind the Scenes with Janne Tjärnström
I must admit, I never heard of Janne Tjärnström before reading his profile on Bike Mag, but I connected instantly with this low profile, humble 54 year old Swede. Turns out he’s a pioneer of MTB publishing in Europe and has been writing about his adventures for over 20 years. What really strikes me is Janne’s life philosophy - it just makes me realize the important things in life. I leave you off with his quote that sums it up: “You know,” Janne says, “this is what riding is really about: friendship.”

The Kora—A Two Wheeled Pilgrimage of Purification
Ever thought of biking the Himalayas? Me neither! Luckily, there’s enough crazies out there to try it out. The Kora is a Tibetan pilgrimage that is said to purify a lifetime of negative karma. It is also a treacherous journey beneath 19000 foot peaks. To the surprise and disbelife of locals, Sam Seward and Joey Schusler venture out on this epic journey filled with struggle, high elevations, granite terrain and shred-worthy singletracks. “We hadn’t undertaken this journey for religious reasons, but it was, in essence, a profoundly spiritual one. And if the Tibetans’ spinning of prayer wheels conveyed their mantras to the heavens, the act of self-propulsion on our rubber-encased wheels paid homage to our other worldly surroundings.”
